Engstlenalp Discovery – Hidden Lakes & Alpine Magic

Get ready for a peaceful outdoor adventure deep in the heart of the Swiss Alps! This e-bike tour takes you through the wild and breathtaking Gental Valley, far away from the tourist crowds near Interlaken.

Our journey begins in the lush valley of Gäntel, where we follow the crystal-clear mountain stream Gäntelwasser as it winds its way up toward the stunning Engstlensee. Along the way, you’ll ride through vibrant alpine meadows, past cascading waterfalls, and under dramatic cliffs — with panoramic views of peaks like Tällistock (2,580 m), Gross-Wendenstock (3,042 m), and Titlis (3,238 m).

With a little luck and good timing, you might even spot wildlife such as marmots, chamois, golden eagles, or ibex. Keep your camera ready for lesser-known alpine waterfalls like Jungibach Falls and the beautiful Gentalwasserfall. Spring and early summer often bring even more hidden falls to life all around the trail.

We’ll then arrive at the historic Hotel Engstlenalp, built in 1892 and full of authentic charm, surrounded by peaceful, untouched nature. Just nearby, we’ll visit the local cheese dairy (Schaukäserei) to taste traditional alpine cheese and yogurt — and maybe grab something delicious to take home.

Next, we reach the jewel of this adventure: the Engstlensee Lake (1,835 m), a true alpine gem. Here, you’ll enjoy your lunch break — whether it’s a relaxed meal at the hotel, a picnic by the lake, or even a peaceful moment on the water in a rental rowboat. This is your time to relax your own way: swim, walk, read, nap, or simply take it all in.

After lunch, we explore nearby viewpoints for a fresh perspective of the lake and its surroundings. Then we start our scenic ride back down the valley, discovering new sights along the way that might have been missed on the way up.

For those with extra energy, there’s an option to gather around a fire pit and roast Swiss sausages, embracing the peaceful atmosphere of the high Alps—depending on the group’s activity level and available time.

8:00 – 8:30 Pick-up from one of our designated meeting points in the Interlaken area.

8:30 – 9:30 Meet your guide, choose your e-bike and helmet, and receive important tour information.

9:30 – 10:30 Transport with bikes to the starting point in Gäntel Valley + basic e-bike training session.

10:30 – 13:00 Begin your ride through the beautiful Gäntel Valley along the Gäntelwasser river, enjoying stunning views, waterfalls (Jungibach and Gentalwasserfall), and alpine wildlife. Visit the historic Hotel Engstlenalp (built in 1892) and taste local cheese at the Schaukäserei.

13:00 – 14:00 Relax and enjoy a scenic lunch break at Engstlensee Lake. Choose between a meal at the hotel, a lakeside picnic, or even a peaceful boat ride.

14:00 – 15:00 Explore surrounding trails and viewpoints for beautiful lake panoramas and photo opportunities.

15:00 – 15:30 Exciting downhill ride back through the valley,discovering new views and hidden sights.

16:30 Arrival back in Interlaken.

Why E bike?

E-bikes allow you to explore beautiful landscapes and cover longer distances with ease. Whether you’re climbing mountain trails or riding through scenic valleys, electric assistance makes cycling accessible to everyone, no matter what their fitness level. Enjoy the views and discover much more from the comfort of an E bike!

On an e-MTB with a high-quality battery and average physical condition, you can expect to cover an elevation gain of 1000 meters over approximately 10 km in about 50 to 70 minutes.

Why walk all day when you can ride? With an e-bike, your adventure goes further, and you won’t be too tired to enjoy the evening too!

These bike tours are available approximately from the end of May to the end of October, depending on weather conditions and snow levels in the mountains. For exact availability, please contact us via email or through the contact form.

Weather and condition

• Our e-bikes are suitable for most weather conditions, but in the event of extreme weather it may be necessary to reschedule or cancel the trip.
• Please check that you have provided us with up-to-date contact information so that we can inform you of any changes in a timely manner. If we do not contact you, it means that we are still planning to run the trip as originally scheduled, or that we are still waiting for weather forecast clarification.
• In the event that the trip cannot take place due to bad weather, we will be happy to offer you an alternative date, a different outdoor activity, or our special Rainy Day Cultural Adventure to Gruyères. If none of the options suit you, we’ll provide a full refund.
