Kiental to Griesalp – Into the Heart of a UNESCO Wonder

Get ready for an unforgettable E-bike tour from Interlaken into the heart of the Griesalp UNESCO Alpine Valley, one of the most spectacular and untouched areas in the Swiss Alps. This peaceful and pristine valley begins in the charming Kiental, a hidden gem just a short ride from Interlaken.

Our Swiss Alps e-bike adventure starts in the alpine village of Kiental (960 m), where we follow the turquoise Kiene river through lush meadows and quiet mountain forests. After a gentle warm-up, we reach our first highlight: the unique Tschingelsee. This alpine lake, formed in 1972 after a powerful storm reshaped the valley, now resembles a magical river delta surrounded by dramatic peaks such as Ärmighorn (2742 m) and Aabeberg. From here, you’ll enjoy views of the impressive Gwildibachfall and Dündenfall waterfalls that flow through this stunning UNESCO-protected landscape.

We then continue deeper into the UNESCO-listed Griesalp Valley, climbing Europe’s legendary steepest public postbus road with gradients of up to 28%. Thanks to the e-bikes, the ascent becomes a smooth and exciting part of the tour. Along the way, we stop at scenic viewpoints to explore hidden waterfalls and panoramic lookouts across the Kiental and Griesalp valleys.

At the top, we reach Griesalp (1400 m) — a peaceful alpine settlement surrounded by towering cliffs and glaciers. Here, you can enjoy a delicious lunch at the cosy Golderli mountain restaurant, or relax with a picnic in the heart of this remarkable UNESCO alpine valley.

After the break, we ride deeper into the glacial valley, following quiet alpine trails with incredible views of majestic 3000+ meter peaks such as Blüemlisalp (3663 m). Along the way, we stop to enjoy authentic alpine cheese produced by local mountain farmers, a moment that connects you directly to the culture of the Kiental and Griesalp region.

The ride back follows the same mountain road, as is common in high alpine valleys, but every turn reveals new perspectives, hidden details and peaceful corners you may have missed on the ascent.

Pick-up from one of our designated meeting points in the Interlaken area.

8:20 – 9:00
Meet your guide and head out by minibus (with bikes) toward Kiental, where your adventure begins.

9:00 – 9:30
Get comfortable with your e-bike, choose your helmet, and receive a short introduction before starting the ride.

9:30 – 13:00
Start the ride through the peaceful Kiental valley, following the Kiene river to the unique alpine lake Tschingelsee. Surrounded by dramatic peaks and scenic waterfalls like Gwindlibachfall and Dündenfall, this stretch offers countless photo moments.
Climb the famous postbus road, the steepest public road in Europe and enjoy short scenic stops on the way to Griesalp.

Lunch break at the charming Golderli mountain restaurant or a peaceful picnic in the surrounding nature.

14:00 – 15:30
Explore the valley beyond Griesalp with views of glaciers and 3,000+ meter peaks like Blüemlisalp. Enjoy a relaxing ride, stop for fresh alpine cheese tasting at a local farm, and soak in the wild alpine atmosphere.

Around 16:30
Arrival back in Interlaken.

E-bikes allow you to explore beautiful landscapes and cover longer distances with ease. Whether you’re climbing mountain trails or riding through scenic valleys, electric assistance makes cycling accessible to everyone, no matter what their fitness level. Enjoy the views and discover much more from the comfort of an E bike!

On an e-MTB with a high-quality battery and average physical condition, you can expect to cover an elevation gain of 1000 meters over approximately 10 km in about 50 to 70 minutes.

Why walk all day when you can ride? With an e-bike, your adventure goes further, and you won’t be too tired to enjoy the evening too!

These bike tours are available approximately from the end of May to the end of October, depending on weather conditions and snow levels in the mountains. For exact availability, please contact us via email or through the contact form.

Weather and condition

• Our e-bikes are suitable for most weather conditions, but in the event of extreme weather it may be necessary to reschedule or cancel the trip.
• Please check that you have provided us with up-to-date contact information so that we can inform you of any changes in a timely manner. If we do not contact you, it means that we are still planning to run the trip as originally scheduled, or that we are still waiting for weather forecast clarification.
• In the event that the trip cannot take place due to bad weather, we will be happy to offer you an alternative date, a different outdoor activity, or our special Rainy Day Cultural Adventure to Gruyères. If none of the options suit you, we’ll provide a full refund.
